Isn’t It Time To Straighten Your Smile - In Less Time?

Simply Smile works by focussing on your front six teeth to greatly enhance the appearance of your smile, in less time than traditional braces. They are an excellent choice for treating:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Unevenly spaced or ‘gapped’ teeth
  • Gumline tooth alignment

Best of all, Simply Smile is far less painful than traditional metal braces and are practically invisible.

The Process

Simply Effective and Fast

Discreet Method

Simply Smile braces are made of clear ceramic brackets and tooth-coloured wires, making it a very discreet method of straightening teeth.

Quicker Results

They are designed to improve your smile by straightening your front six teeth rather than treating how your back teeth bite together- which means much quicker results than traditional orthodontics.

Fixed Appliance Advice

Now that your brace has been fitted you may experience a little discomfort in your mouth where the brackets sit against your lips. A ball of the wax we have given you pressed over the bracket at night will help a lot in the initial period to protect any tender areas.

The teeth themselves will also feel slightly tender to bite on for the first 24 hours and after each change of arch wire. You may also find that, for the first few days, your jaw aches because of the pressure of the brace.

If this is the case, you may find a painkiller helps - the sort of thing you might take for a headache will be fine. If the discomfort lasts longer than a few days, please give us a call where a member of our team will give you some advice.

Your Diet

Please take extra care with biting and chewing, especially in the first few weeks.

Try to avoid really hard or sticky foods. A normal diet is recommended but special preparation of the food, so as to reduce the chewing required, may be necessary. Please never bite hard against the appliance, and do not chew pencils! High sugar foods and drinks should be kept to a minimum. Hard foods can be eaten with care if you cut them up first!

Keeping things healthy

Thorough cleaning and use of a daily fluoride mouthwash is highly recommended.
Failure to clean around the brackets will result in damage to the enamel of the teeth which will only become noticeable when the appliance is removed.
Please use the orthodontic brush that we have given you along with the Tepe brushes to keep your mouth as clean as possible. You may find the occasional use of a disclosing tablet will help you keep your brace clean.
We will arrange an appointment with one of our hygienists’ for a maintenance appointment; they will guide you on the correct cleaning techniques.
After your treatment is completed, to avoid relapse of the teeth, it is strongly recommended you wear a removable or fixed retainer to maintain the teeth in their new position.

Aftercare

Keeping Things Straight

1

Once your Simply Smile teeth straightening treatment is complete we will fit you with a retainer for you to wear at night to make sure your teeth don’t return to their former position.

2

Of course you should follow a regular oral health routine, including brushing and flossing and regular visits to our North Hill Dental hygienist, as well as eating smart and protecting your teeth during contact sports and other rough activities.

3

During your regular dental check-ups we’ll monitor the alignment of your teeth and make sure you continue to be happy with the results.

FAQs

Is simply smiles faster than traditional brace systems?

While traditional braces work by both moving teeth and correcting your bite, Simply Smiles focuses on the cosmetic improvement of your smile and only moves the front six teeth, so you see results much more quickly.

If you have problems with your bite you would like corrected as well, your North Hill dentist will discuss all of your available options to find the solution best for you.

Do I have to change what I eat and drink during the treatment?

Generally speaking, you can consume more or less the same food and drink that you normally do. However, food and drinks that are high in sugar or food that is really hard, crunchy or sticky should be avoided, or eaten in moderation and very carefully, as they can damage the braces.

Will I have to wear a retainer after the treatment?

After any teeth straightening treatment, it’s important to wear retainers- usually at night while you sleep- so the teeth remain straight and in their new position.

Over time, your teeth have a natural tendency to move back to their pre-treatment position and wearing a retainer can help prevent this from happening.
