Dentures

The Difference Dentures Can Make

Unfortunately, no matter how careful you are or how well you look after your oral health, teeth can still get lost through gum disease, decay or injury.

If this happens it can affect your looks, confidence and overall health and well being. We can replace missing teeth with dentures that give you back your smile and improve your quality of life.

The Process

How Dentures Work for You

Dentures are definitely not a one-size-fits-all solution.

We will carefully assess the state of your mouth and jaw, the number of teeth missing and the complexity of the fitting to ensure you get the best possible fit.

By taking impressions of your mouth we can make precise measurements that we then use to custom build your dentures for a comfortable and secure fit.

FAQs

Will I have any discomfort while wearing dentures?

Modern technology allows our talented and highly skilled North Hill Dental team to craft dentures that are very secure and comfortable.

However, when your dentures are first fitted it’s quite normal to experience some minor irritation, but your mouth should get used to them fairly quickly.

We will work with you to make sure you get the best fit possible.

Can I eat normal food with dentures?

Yes, though it may take you a short time to adjust to your new denture, which most people do quite quickly.

We do ask that you take extra caution, especially at first, when eating hard or sticky food.

Using a small amount of adhesive can help stabilise your dentures and hold them in place while you are getting used to them.

Is it easy to take care of my new dentures?

Having dentures will take a bit of getting used to but you should find them nearly as easy to care for as your natural teeth. Each night you will need to remove, clean and store your dentures before you go to sleep. This allows your gums and jaw bone a chance to ‘breathe’ and relax.

We will also show you how to gently brush your gums, tongue and palate with a soft-bristled toothbrush each morning to stimulate the circulation in your mouth tissue and help prevent plaque buildup.
