Dazzle with a Brilliantly Bright Smile

No matter how well we take care of our teeth they can still become dull and uninspiring.

Many of the foods we eat and beverages we drink on a daily basis- such as tea, coffee, tobacco and wine- have a slow but noticeable effect on the colour of our teeth. Heredity and some medications can change their appearance as well. Over time this discolouration can transform your pearly whites into something a bit more listless and dingy.

At North Hill Dental we offer a simple and effective home whitening treatment that really gets results!

Our Home Whitening Treatment

Our home whitening treatment gives fantastic results gradually and safely over the course of a few weeks. We use a low concentration of whitening agent to give longer lasting results without harming any delicate soft tissue in your mouth.

After an initial assessment, we will create custom-made soft plastic trays that you fill with this whitening gel. You then place the trays over your teeth each night for about 1 - 2 weeks. After this time we’ll speak with you and decide together if you need further treatment.

If used properly, your teeth can get up to 8 shades whiter, but keep in mind results can vary due to factors such as tooth density, porosity and your lifestyle.

Something to Consider

Protect yourself

Although it’s tempting to whiten your teeth with over-the-counter kits, they are likely to only remove very surface-level stains and only slightly improve their overall appearance.

It’s also important to remember that there is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to tooth whitening and the risk of causing no effect at all, or worse, damaging your teeth is very real.

FAQs

Will whitening my teeth make them more sensitive?

No, when done correctly and safely, you shouldn’t feel any pain or discomfort from the tooth whitening process. However, if you have naturally sensitive teeth, we can provide a desensitising gel for you to use for a few weeks before you begin the whitening treatment.

Can you whiten my crowns/veneers/fillings as well?

Unfortunately, no. The whitening agent used in our home system only reacts to natural tooth enamel and not synthetic materials such as ceramic. If you are unhappy with the shade of your current crowns or fillings, please speak to your North Hill dentist and they can discuss your various options.

Will it hurt?

In our experience, most people won’t feel any pain or discomfort, although some may experience a slight increase in sensitivity during the whitening process- especially if their teeth are naturally sensitive. However, this will only be temporary and will go away quickly on its own, usually in just a few days.
